WHAT IS
CT MUSIC FEST?
CT Music Fest is a vibrant and creative musical event organized entirely by local musicians from Hong Kong, showcasing their efforts and talents. As the 3rd edition, with the venue evolving from the 300 pax Star Ferry to last year’s giant club in Central, and now to this year’s 500,000sqft. campsite, hosting a three days camping music and arts festival, CT Fest is continually growing.
With over 30 music performance units, CT Music Fest also incorporates a variety of activities such as film screenings, art exhibitions, yoga classes, children’s activities, and craft workshops, fully embodying the ideals of community integration and cultural diversity. This design not only allows participants to enjoy music but making it an indispensable important festival in Hong Kong’s artistic and cultural life.
卅間音樂節是一個充滿創意與活力的音樂盛事，全程由香港本土的音樂人統籌，展現了他們的努力與才華。今年已經是第三屆，舉辦地點從可容納300人的天星小輪，發展到去年中環的巨型俱樂部，再到今年的50萬尺私人營地西園，三日兩夜露營音樂藝術節，規模不斷擴大。
除了超過30個音樂表演單位，卅間音樂節還融入了電影放映、藝術展覽、瑜伽課程、兒童遊戲及手作工作坊等多元化活動，充分體現了社區共融與文化多樣性的理念。這樣的設計不僅讓參加者享受音樂，也提供了一個交流與學習的平台，成為香港藝術文化生活中不可或缺的重要節日。

VENUE AND CAMPING 露營
Located in Cheung Chau, Hong Kong, Saiyuen is a licensed guesthouse (holiday camp) approved by the Home Affairs Department. It occupies an area of nearly 500,000 square feet and is well-known for its safety and comfort, with 24-hour security on-site. It serves as a sanctuary for urban dwellers to reconnect with nature and seek relaxation for the mind and body.
The park features 38 different styles of tents, all equipped with air conditioning and heating systems, ensuring the best camping experience regardless of the season. The unique tents include Sunset Vista, Native American Teepees, African Safari Tents, Geodesic Dome, and Mongolian Gers. Additionally, there are wild camping available for campers to truly experience outdoor camping. While enjoying the camping experience, don’t forget to participate in various adventurous activities and fun-filled attractions suitable for the whole family, ensuring a fulfilling camping holiday in the great outdoors.

HISTORY 歷史
Origins
Tucked inside an alley of upper Central was a small independent music venue called “Chez Trente”, the Thirty Houses. As some locals might know, the legend of the Thirty Houses, or “卅間” in Chinese, was the thirty-tenement building around Bridges Street, which garnered a community of neighbourhood for the commoners. But with modern development surrounding the area of the 卅間, one can only visit the aging façade and the enduring architecture that felt to had been left behind.
The name “Chez Trente” was chosen to give homage to a culture that had since witnessed its vanishing remnant in the rapid development and commercialisation of Hong Kong —much like the existential struggle facing music and art. Our goal and passion are to contribute to the preservation of the spirit and values.
Chez Trente, which we now colloquially call it “CT”, has since moved to a larger space not too far from its birthplace. Over the past 4 years, we have held more than 400 concerts. Though primarily focus on jazz, we had performers from all walks of genre contributed, including indie rocks, Chinese fusion, and even experimental music. We have also hosted various art exhibitions and independent film screenings on many occasions, dedicated to supporting the development of local music and art culture. CT has often been descripted as “the living room” by returning patrons. You might often find internationally celebrated artists and music academy students standing shoulder to shoulder; cinephiles having deep discussions with film makers on work or life; or professionals from various industries outside of music participating in performances and discussions. Our aim was never to merely be a music venue, but to create an egalitarian space for artistic exchange; for performers to sincerely share their inner worlds, and the audience to dine on the unforgettable spirit of music performance.
Evolution
The value of art is abstract and often difficult to evaluate, but the sincere exchange negotiated by the culture of CT has attracted a supportive community to form, and its positive cycle has nurtured its growth. The community extends beyond musicians; there are various professionals from all walks of industries involved, all sharing a common goal: to support the sustainable development of local music, art and culture.
As the saying goes, “Grow big or go home” which inspired us to organize our own music festival. We hope to provide performers with a larger stage and broader audience, while also raising public awareness of local music and artistic culture, adding a touch of humanity to this fast-paced metropolis. While there are many large music festivals held by the government and various corporate in Hong Kong, independent community-driven events carry a unique emotional warmth that cannot be replaced. Moreover, various music and cultural activities should not be seen as competitors. In a commercially driven city where art and culture hold a diminishing share, having more events means more voices supporting the arts, which is something to celebrate and mutually support.
Now in its third edition, “CT Music Fest” returns with expanded horizons. After two consecutive sell-out years, we’re moving under the open sky – to Sai Yuen in Cheung Chau, an outdoor setting which can host more than 1,000 kindred spirits, and with 500,000 square feet for each free spirit to explore. Afterall, a festival is more than music and schedules; it’s a maker of memories. Thus, we chose Sai Yuen to add a very important element — camping. Instead of returning home after the last song of the show, we offer our fans and patrons the opportunity to stay with us for three days and two nights together, where we can engage in in-depth discussions or reminisce together, linger over breakfast, turn chances into conversations and deepening friendships: between musicians, artist, audiences, and humans. Following “the living room” we’ve built in Central; we want to offer our friends and patrons the opportunity to participate in one temporary village build around culture, art and music.

正所謂「不進則退」，我們因而萌生了舉辦自己的音樂節的想法。除了希望可以讓表演者踏足更大的舞台，接觸到更廣泛的社群，我們更希望可以爭取普羅大眾對本土音樂藝術文化的關注，令這個急促的大都會多一份人文的暖意。當然香港已經有很多大型的音樂節日活動，由政府及不同的商界所舉辦，但由民間親自發起的獨立活動終歸多一點情懷及人情味，是不能取替的。再者，各項音樂文化藝術活動之間也不理應是競爭對手。在商業大城市中藝術文化的持分已經是相當的少，多一個活動就等於多一分聲音去支持藝術文化，是值得高興及需要互相支持的。

「卅間音樂節」踏入第三屆，由於過往兩屆的門票都售罄，今年我們選擇了一個大好幾倍，可以容納一千人的露天場地 – 長洲西園，更加入了一個非常重要的元素 – 露營。參與一個多日的音樂藝術節無疑是一個難忘的體驗，但往往表演過後都需要各自回家，難以深入討論或共同回想過程，深化體驗。在遼闊的場地中又沒有一個固定的據點，往往大部份時間都浪費在四處尋找朋友，而非享受整個音樂節的體驗上。
有了營地後，大家可以真正的共同渡過三日兩夜，晚上及早餐時又可以一同計劃行程，或回想精彩的表演及趣事。所有人都可享有更多時間與其他人真正互動，認識在場的每一位參與者，包括表演者、觀眾、策劃人員、義工等，發展成一個以音樂藝術為中心點的真正社群，以致將來可以一同走得更遠。
最後想提的是「卅間音樂節」從來也不是以盈利為目標的項目，過往兩屆雖然門票售罄，但也僅僅為收支平衡，而且更是在所有表演者都只收取極少的車馬費為報酬的前提下完成的。曾參演的表演藝術家是因為非常明白我們的理念，因而甘願為此作出近乎無酬的貢獻，我們才得以降低門票的售價，為的就是讓更多人可以參與其中。今年我們首次讓有成人陪同的12歲以下的小朋友免費入場，目的就是希望讓下一代可以更早接觸音樂文化藝術。
今屆的主題是「用愛發電」，來於一次朋友笑言直指我們一向都是用愛發電，少點愛都做不了我們在做的事。

In line with the philosophy, children under 12 are admitted free with an accompanying adult—reflecting a core belief that music, arts and culture is a legacy to be shared with the next generation.
Our 2025 theme is “Generating Power with Love.” As love is our engine: love for this city, for its artists, for the stories and sounds that made Hong Kong more than glass-çade concrete skylines. CT Music Fest is our invitation to slow down, look around, and a reminder to remember what binds us.
